This links page is really here to provide me with a set of bookmarks for site I regularly use that I can access from any device.
I'll start with a list of Wellington Heritage Railway sites that are worth visiting.
Wellington Heritage Railway sites
Rimutaka Incline Rail Heritage Trust
This is the group I spend most of my time volunteering for. The Trust plans to reinstate the historic Rimutaka Incline Railway. Based at Maymorn there are volunteers on site most Saturdays.
Steam Inc.
A mainline excursion operator this group has a wonderful collection of heritage wooden carriages.
Mainline Steam
Another excellent mainline excursion operator. Mainline Steam has depots around the country and an amazing collection of mainline certified locomotives. They also have a collection of South African locomotives.
Silverstream Railway
Silversteam will soon have the largest collection of operating steam locomotives on one site in the country. This short railway runs every Sunday and is a great little ride, worth a visit.
The Fell Engine Museum
Home of the worlds only Fell locomotive. This museum is a must visit for anyone who has an interest in the Rimutaka Incline.
